Getting Your Daily Agenda Right: The Secret To Your Success

"The secret of your success is determined by your daily agenda." - John C. Maxwell
“The secret of your success is determined by your daily agenda.” – John C. Maxwell

Thanks to Dr John Maxwell on this quote. Really, the secret to our success in life is in our daily agenda. Show me your daily agenda – how you allocate your time and what you practice as routine everyday and I can tell you the results you must expect very soon in your life.

Sometimes people think success is what happen to us suddenly. No! Success is not sudden neither failure is. The outcome of our lives is always the accumulated results of our daily routine.

I personally believe that if we can work on developing right daily agenda, we have already built a platform for success. So, I like to share with you how to always set your daily agenda right.

1. Prioritize Your Life on Purpose

The first thing that determines the correctness of our daily agenda is the understanding of why we are living and how we can live it out every day of our lives. Priority of purpose determines what we do, why we need to do it and when it must be done.

Setting your daily agenda right is not about some kind of ‘To-Do’ list that we are committed to. I don’t know about you, but I have tried having ‘To-Do’ list which has not really been effective. That’s why Steven Covey said, The key is not to prioritize what’s on your schedule, but to schedule your priorities.” The moment I began to set my daily agenda based on the priorities of my life purpose, my ‘To-Do’ list became effective and positively affective to my life.

2. Balance Your Faith, Family and Work

The priority of our life purpose is narrowed down to these three areas:

Faith: Our commitment and relationship with God.

Family: Our commitment and relationship with Loved Ones.

Work: Our commitment and relationship with Life Assignment.

In these three areas, there must be balance for us to get our daily agenda right. Commitment to these three must be strong in the order of their importance – Faith, Family and Work. The moment we are able to strike balance in these three areas, our success is guaranteed.

Balancing faith, family and work is a top priority for us. We must treat it as such

3. Take Responsibility For The Use of Your Time

One thing I discovered over the years is that, when we delegate the responsibility of how our time is being used, we’ll get our lives disorganized. No one is expected to be responsible for the use of your time except you.

One of the greatest discoveries about why some people never amount to anything in life is because someone and something outside God and themselves is responsible for how their time is used. Never be a victim of this. Always be in charge of how your time is used. Try often to avoid time wasters. Never become a slave to what you have not purposefully dedicated your time to.

Remember: Your life will be measured by what you do with your time.

I believe if you will begin to prioritize your life  on purpose, Balance Your faith, family and work, then take responsibility for the use of your time, you can always get your daily agenda right.

What else do you think we need to do to get our daily agenda right? I like to know your thought.
