How to Rise Above Discouragement – March 4 – Journey of Leadership Daily Devotion

Leading with Charcater, Competence and Courage

Sharing is caring!

Your life can never be greater than what you value.

Most times, the reason some of us get discouraged about certain things in life is because they are things we build our self esteem upon.

Discouragement is a pointer to where your self esteem is hurting. For instance, when you loose your job, it is very easy to become discouraged because you have attached your self esteem to your job. You will think your worth has reduced because your job determines quite many things that boost your self esteem.

Never base Your Worth on Things

Things are not permanent in life. You can loose things because life is designed by God to be a place where nothing is meant to be permanent. That’s why Jesus said, “The life of a man does not consist in the abundance of the things which he possess” (Luke 12:15).

Life is not measured by how much you own

If you’re going to always rise above discouragement of any kind, how much of anything you own shouldn’t be what defines your worth in life.

Discouragement will always plague your life when you base your joy, worth or self esteem on any of these six things I will share quickly with you.

1. Personality
2. People
3. Possession
4. Position
5. Power
6. Pursuits

If you trace it down, your discouragement presently or any time must fall into one or more of these  six common incorrect sources of many people’s definition of a good and great life.

Find Your Worth only in Christ

You’re who God says you are. Learn to accept the reality of your identity in Christ irrespective of your present challenges.

You may lose things, but if you still have Christ, you have lost nothing. You must believe this to rise above discouragement at all times!

#PrayerBurden
Pray that God will help you to base your worth not on anything except Christ!
