Pathway to Living the Life You Were Created to Live

“Life is not Your Choice: You were created for a Purpose Higher than Your Self Interest”

The best way to live is according to the interest of the giver of life. Many people are not getting their lives right because they have not discovered or embraced this truth. The most terrible life is the one lived for self. Self interest is the fastest way to a life that leads nowhere but regrets and destruction.

My goal in this article is not to condemn anyone but to remind you again that life is not your choice. Though, we are always making a choice that will determine the outcome of our lives.

But oftentimes, most of us live as if life is our choice. How? We do things without first knowing and following the mind of God who owns our lives. We make decisions at will without considering the mind of God. Yet, the truth is that, we are created for a purpose higher than self desires and interests. And to get life right, we must understand what God created us to do with our lives that will suit His interest.

Many struggles in our lives are results of not living within the interests of God. For instance, choosing a life partner outside God’s interests can turn to a lifetime of regrets and frustrations.

Living outside God’s interest can change the course of a destiny negatively. It can lead to an untimely death. It can render a glorious destiny irrelevant. Above all, living outside God’s interest will shut a person out from the benefits God has planned for those who follow His interest.

Most people have not mastered the discipline of understanding what the will, purpose and plan of God is for their lives. Some people seek to understand the will of God – the Interest of God in some areas while they ignore other aspects. But if we are like that, we will never have a balanced life.

If you seek God’s interest concerning your choice of life partner and decide to choose the location you will stay based on how you feel, you may still not get the best out of your marriage.

Consider the pathetic story of Elimelech and Naomi (Ruth 1:1-5). They were enjoying their marriage, they got two wonderful sons and the family had made a tremendous progress. But one decision void of God’s interest and instruction landed the whole family in an unbearable agony, pains and loss.

The decision to move to another country because of the seemingly challenges of their home country led to the loss of three key family members. Had Elimelech considered the mind of The Lord concerning that trip, it would have been a positive story entirely.

We are all created to carry out a purpose higher than our personal interests and ambitions. That’s why our duty all the time is to seek God before we take a step on anything.

A life that will be lived well must seek to understand God’s purpose, plan and will in all things – decisions, vocations, visions, strategies, goals and goal setting, relocations, relationships and many more.

First, let’s consider the Word of God as our SPS (Spiritual Positioning System). God’s word is clear enough in our own dispensation to understand His mind concerning where to turn and what to do in following the interests of God.

“Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a Light to my path.” – Psalm 119:109

According to this Scripture above, the Word of God has the ability to enlighten us on both immediate and long term decisions – decisions that affect NOW and those that affects the FUTURE. It is both a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

It also means God’s ability to GUIDE and to SHOW. The Word will guide my feet from dangers and error, then show me the correct turnings and right direction. You cannot MISS your WAY by holding your SPS.

Sometimes, we can get worried when we are confronted with certain things that are not directly stated in the Scripture about the decisions before us. For instance, Mike wants to know whether Lolly is the right partner that God has chosen for him. Although, Lolly is a believer and has met all the criteria that Mike looks for in a God-given wife. How will Mike know that she is the choice partner for him? There are many other situations as this like choice of job offer to pick up, right location to stay, the school to choose, etc.

So, what’s the role of the Holy Spirit in situations like these?

Let me give some Scriptures…

“And I will pray the Father, and He will GIVE you another HELPER that He may ABIDE with you FOREVER. The Spirit of TRUTH whom the WORLD cannot RECEIVE, because it neither SEES HIM nor KNOWS HIM. But you KNOW HIM, for HE DWELLS WITH YOU and will be IN YOU.” – John 14:16-17

Let’s take some more…

“I still HAVE MANY THINGS to SAY to YOU, but you cannot BEAR THEM NOW. However, when HE the Spirit of TRUTH has come, He will GUIDE you into all truth; for He will not SPEAK on His own authority, but whatever He HEARS He will SPEAK and He will tell you THINGS to come. All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will TAKE OF MINE and DECLARE IT to you.” – John 15:13-15

Please, two more Scriptures…

“But you have an ANOINTING from the Holy One, and you KNOW ALL THINGS…But the ANOINTING which you have RECEIVED from Him ABIDES IN you, and you DO NOT NEED that ANYONE teach you; but as THE SAME ANOINTING TEACHES YOU CONCERNING ALL THINGS, and IS TRUE, and IS NOT A LIE, and JUST as it has TAUGHT you, you WILL ABIDE IN HIM.” – 1 John 2:20, 27

The Holy Spirit and His anointing GIVE you the CAPACITY to KNOW ALL THINGS which enables you to DO the RIGHT THING – MAKE RIGHT CHOICE.

You must believe this TRUTH!

If The Lord permits, I will continue from here next time. But let me say this as parting word, if you align yourself with The Word and The Holy Spirit, everything you do will always be the interest and for the interest of God. By this, you are fulfilling the purpose for which you are created.
