The Cure for Discouragement – March 5 – Journey of Leadership Daily Devotion

In yesterday’s devotion, we learnt that rising above discouragement requires that you avoid defining your worth in life by your personality, people, position, possession, power and position.

Irrespective of your present situation, your loss, pains, challenges and disappointments; you can remain strong if you learn to draw courage from Christ.

How to Draw Courage from Christ when You’re Discouraged

Learning how to be still is one of the best cures for discouragement. Jesus gave this key to the disciples when He said, “Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat” (Mark 6:31).

Learn to Quiet Your Internal Noise

Being still is quieting the internal noise going on inside you. Overcoming discouragement happens when you have victory over internal disturbance before external victory.

Let go off Yourself to a Quiet Place

The understanding and faithful response to this invitation will empower any believer who wants to live above discouragement.

The invitation is about coming to a place of rest in Christ. Come out of your worry, frustration, self pity, and the various  thoughts overcrowding your heart into a separation with Christ.

Discouragement can never survive without an attachment

When Jesus invited His disciples into a desert, He was simply trying to disengage them from those attachments that won’t allow them to receive His rest.

Likewise, the cure for our discouragement is a deliberate disengagement from things that occupies or bothers our hearts in order to get alone with Jesus, so that discouragement can die a natural death.
