The role of mind in our lives is powerful. It is the central control point of our thinking, attitudes, decisions and their outcomes. In fact, the state of our mind is directly an outward expression of our lives.
This is the reason the Scripture admonished us to guard our hearts with all diligence because everything about our lives flow from them (Proverbs 4:23 Paraphrased).
Your Mind Influence everything about Your Life
There’s nothing in our lives that is not influenced by our minds. This means everything about you is under the control of your mind – your day-to-day living, actions, sleeping, talking, choices, aspirations, ambition, dream, vision, work, business, worship and your relationships. They are all under the influence of your mind.
The state of your mind equals the state of your life because your mind influences everything about you. It is not how bad your situation is that matters, but the kind of mind in you. In other words, if things are bad around you but your mind is right; your will surely triumph. So your mind is where the battle line is always drawn.
Your Mind is the Battle Ground
The battle ground of what happens to you in life is your mind. It determines your victory and your failure. When your mind is defeated, you are already defeated. It is only a matter of time before you will begin to see the manifestation outside.
That’s why it is very important for you to guard your mind above anything else, because it is the battle ground of your life. There’s no battle you cannot conquer in life if you can conquer the battle of your mind.
Your Mind is the Devil’s Target
Your mind is the battle ground because it is the target of the devil. It is from your mind every action proceeds, so the devil targets your mind in order to defile, damage and corrupts it. Once this is done, he has succeeded in gaining the control over your life.
Look at what Paul, the apostle said to the church of Corinthians in chapter eleven and verse three; “But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.”
The fear of Saint Paul was referred to the deception devil used in his craftiness to corrupt Eve’s mind in Genesis 3:4. That somehow, the people of Corinth may also become corrupted in their minds from the simplicity that is in Christ through the same strategy – the target of the mind.
Now, how does Paul says this battle strategy against the mind is carried out? The answer is found in Colossians 2:4. “And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.” The mind of Eve was corrupted by the enticing words from the devil and the next thing that followed was a separation of humankind from the best God has promised. We must constantly guard our minds, renewing them with the word of God in order to secure them against the contamination that can make us become vulnerable to the manipulation of the enemy. You can also accomplish this by changing what you feed your mind.
